THE CENTERS

In April 2000, with the merger of the Rubonia Community Center and 13th Avenue Community Center, United Community Centers, Inc was formed.

Although UCC is fairly new, it’s centers have been providing quality programs and services to their respective communities and Manatee County at large for 70 years.
In the 1950’s, The Father and Son’s Club of Rubonia utilized a one-room school house to provide to their community various recreational and cultural activities.
In 1991 a new center in Rubonia, provided for expansion and evolution of those services and programs in a more structured format.

Local civil rights activist Minnie Rodgers, legendary educator Dr. Mary McCloud Bethune, and former First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt, in 1937, created a community cornerstone with the erection of the 13th Ave Community Center as it became a safe haven and provided recreational, cultural, social and academic outlets to the communities of the Central Bradenton Area.
